Mr Ng Chun Pin was born in Singapore in 1974. He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Dean’s list) from the University of Tokyo in 1999 under the Overseas Merit Scholarship and served in the Singapore Administrative Service. He attained his Masters of Business Administration (with Distinction) at INSEAD in 2008, and completed the 9th General Management Programme at Harvard Business School in 2010.
Since October 2011, Mr Ng Chun Pin has been appointed as the Director, Youth Division, Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports (MCYS) (which was restructured in 2012 into the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY)). Chun Pin is concurrently Director of the National Youth Council (NYC). He leads his team at MCCY and NYC, to partner schools, Institutes of Higher Learning and youth / community organizations to grow a vibrant youth ecosystem to support youth development. He also contributes in his capacity as a Board of Director on *SCAPE and the Singapore Youth Flying Club.
Chun Pin served at the Ministry of Manpower in 2006-2011, overseeing tripartite programmes, international labour and workplace policy issues. These included formulating and implementing employment related policies to enhance and safeguard the well-being of local and foreign workers. At the height of the economic downturn in 2008/2009, he worked closely with the labour movement and employers’ organisations, to help companies implement cost-cutting measures to stay afloat and avoid/minimize job losses. Beyond the downturn, Chun Pin oversaw and managed various tripartite programmes, such as the implementation of worklife strategies, flexible wage structures and the re-employment of older workers beyond 62.
